Help to improve public transport in Malta.

Traffic in Malta clearly shows that it is impossible to enjoy a ride in a car, as the number of cars on the roads is constantly increasing.

It’s seems like it’s time for everyone to try at least once to take a bus. It is important to do it not just to find excuses why you don’t want to do it again, but to share the experience - to explore the options for improving the public transport.

Would you like to increase the frequency of a certain bus or suggest a new bus route connecting two or more destinations?

Mobile application Tallinja gives the information about the routes of the busses and time schedule.  It could be used to collect the necessary information. Why not to add two new buttons for a start: “add a missing route” and “increase the frequency” of a certain bus.

The data will be collected automatically and the numbers will show where to add new busses and start the improvements. That could attract more people to switch to a bus and eventually improve the situation on the roads.

As there is no effective communication and data collection with Transport Malta, there is not enough motivation for people to switch to the public trnsport.

Surprisingly enough going by bus can be faster sometimes.
If you go to Valletta by car in the morning, you will have to stand in a long queue, while the busses pass freely through a special lane. In Valletta you waste time to find a parking.  It can be faster just to get off the bus and walk where you need.

Instead of waiting that someone will improve situation for you (you know it won’t happen) it is definitely the time to share you experience to tell the authorities what they should do for the people.

We start the list of suggestions and we hope to hear yours:

1. Tallinja application - add an option to suggest a missing bus route connecting 2 or more destinations.
2. Tallinja application - add an option to suggest which bus routes need to increase the frequency.
3. Put the stickers in the busses reminding people to avoid loud conversations and to use headphones instead of speakers on their phones.

It is very annoying when someone uses speaker on his phone... there should be stickers in the bus reminding those people that it’s not appropriate... if they don’t understand it...

Speaking too loud is disrespectful to other people. It’s a public transport.
